SHORT FILM

since me and my team have decided to make a short film i would like to tell you a little about what is a short film?
Short films, a genre that has become popular in recent times, are films that can be any length between 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the critic asked. The earliest short films were usually simple, usually comic but with time, short films have evolved into a genre of their own and are now more about the controversial or the obscure topic. 

POSTMODERN MEDIA

Postmodern Ideas Postmodern media rejects the idea that any media product or text is of any greater value than another. All judgements are merely taste. Anything can be art, anything can deserve to reach an audience, and culture 'eats itself' as there is no longer anything new to produce or distribute.

WHAT IS MEDIA ECOLOGY

 

We started our A2 course with media ecology and learned different terms and theories , but the question arises , what really is media ecology? here is what you need to know 
It is the study of media environments, the idea that technology and techniques, modes of information and codes of communication play a leading role in human affairs. Media ecology aims to describe ways in which diverse media environments shape today's society and our everyday lives. And the central premise of the theory is that the communication content doesn't exert nearly as much influence as the medium of communication itself does. 

Origins of the Theory

The phrase media ecology was officially introduced and coined in 1968 by the media theorist Neil postman. However, what initially inspired the phrase was Marshall McLuhan's theory proposed in his 1964 book, Understanding Media. 

McLuhan was the first to suggest that the focus of the study should be media and not the content it communicates. Aside from McLuhan, today, the media economy theory recognizes various influences, which are rooted in sociology, history, education, and economy of the 20th century. 

Over the years, many theorists have offered their definitions and views of media ecology. Aside from Postman, the most significant among them are Christine Nystrom, Lance Strate, and Robert Logan. 

INTRODUCTION

My name is Aiza Adnan and this is my media studies blog. I am doing my Alevels (A2) from Beaconhouse School System Margalla Campus. Media studies is one of the most interesting subject and i really enjoyed studying it in depth in these two years of alevels. Just like last year the practical part of this subject is the most exciting one. This year i , along with my three team members Hamna Waqar, Sayed Jan Ali and Aruba Bukhari will be making a  five minutes short film with a full promotional package which includes social media page and postcard advertisement. Working in a group not only helps us enhance our skills but it also brings out the creativity in us and train us to work with different people.
I will be keeping everyone updated of this exciting journey.
